Citizenship- or residency-by- investment could be the answer.
As the world, and where we can choose to live, is affected by events and economics, many people are considering alternative citizenship and places to live. The recent pandemic, wars, economic factors – all have affected how we see our futures. And where we want to live and retire.
It is not as easy as simply deciding you want to live in a certain country as obtaining residency and visas can be complex. The choices about where to live and work are restricted for most people and few nationalities have real freedom of movement.
If you have passports from countries such as Pakistan, India, Lebanon, Egypt, and many other African countries to name just a few, you will know how difficult it can be to travel or live elsewhere.
People from developed countries would also often like the opportunity to live and work in other countries without restrictions.
The good news is that there are options where you can obtain both the right to live and work, as well as a citizenship.
We can offer a range of residency- and citizen-by-investment programmes which will give you the desired economic freedom and choice of where to live.
Benefits of having a second passport
A second passport gives you increased global mobility, allowing visa-free travel to over 180 counties across the world.
Opportunities to set up and run businesses in other countries with minimal red tape.
Tax advantages. Changing your tax residency can reduce your personal tax liabilities, and totally legally.
You can choose where you live, where you work, and where your children study. (Residency can often mean free or reduced price education fees.)
Having a plan B, an option to live elsewhere, can be a useful benefit providing security and peace of mind for you and your family.

Residency by investment – the options
- USA (EB-5)
While the Portugal “golden visa” property investment scheme has ended, we have a new option for our clients with the same outcome.
A Portuguese visa gives a person, and their families, the right to live and work in any of the 27 Schengen countries, as well as visa-free travel to 187 countries.
For the US EB-5 visa, we have partnered with a US organisation that has 50 years of experience and has handled tens of thousands of visas. There is no better way of obtaining a “Green Card”.
Citizenship by Investment – the options
- Antigua & Barbuda
- Kitts & Nevis
Obtaining a second passport is, in most cases, cheaper than obtaining residency, but more limited for permanent residency. It will usually allow visa-free travel to a wide range of countries so can be a good option if your end goal is to travel, rather than permanent relocation.
What about my family?
A spouse can always be included as well as children up to the ages of 18 or 21, with some places including children up to age 30.
Many countries also permit sponsorship of dependent parents.
What about the costs?
The cost of citizen and/or residency varies. A simple second passport has the lowest cost but more limited option in terms of what that gives you. The prices vary significantly depending on whether it is just you, or also your family
The cost for a second passport, for citizenship, can start at $100,000. It will be more if you are looking at an investment with a return of capital, or an income.
In effect, you just pay processing and administration fees.
This means that you need more money up-front but it can cost you less overall, and with more benefits.
There is not a one-size-fits-all solution or answer and it depends on what you want, what your goals are, your family situation, the options that are available to you.
Do you just want easy travel? Or do you want the right to live and work in Europe in the USA?
Citizenship- or residency-by-investment is the solution for many people.
